The 3 Week Diet

Osteoarthritis is degenerative joint disease which leads to degradation of joints. It is a chronic condition in which the mineral that cushion the joint called cartilage gets degenerated which cause the two bones to strike against each other that causes pain and stiffness in the joint. This disease mainly occurs with increasing age, obesity or excessive use of joints. Osteoarthritis may be caused by misalignment of bone caused by congenital or mechanical injury or excessive weight. The change in sex hormone level may also play role in development of this disease as this disease mainly occurs after menopause in women. There are a million of people affected by this disease which basically affects your joint.

The symptoms usually develop gradually and they vary from patient to patient. Osteoarthritis cannot be detected at an early stage. The first symptom that you might face is that of soreness or stiffness in your joints especially the hips, knees and lower back joints. Osteoarthritis causes formation of hardy bone enlargements in small joints of fingers. The pain is worse in joints after any sort of activity and even bad at the end of the day. There can be creaking, swelling and warmth of the affected joints.

This disease may affect your neck, small finger joint, big toe and ankle. The pain and stiffness will make difficult for you to walk, climb stairs or sleep. In it sometimes the joint may even be filled with fluid which increases pain associated with cold temperature and high humidity. Osteoarthritis of neck may cause pain in neck and lower back. It causes severe pain, numbness and tingling in several parts of the body.

What to do-

If you have osteoarthritis you should consult a doctor who will ask you about your medical history and will tell you to perform some physical exercises and probably will take an X-ray to confirm diagnosis. Some physical and occupational therapy you will be entitled to take in order to improve health and strength. Since, there is no cure to this disease just the medication will help you get relief with pain. If the pain is severe and unbearable then a joint replacement surgery will have to take place in order to relief you from the pain.

So, as said “prevention is better (or even best) than cure” therefore, one should be physically active, eat right and sleep well. You should eat healthy and maintain your weight because obese people are mostly affected by this. Since, losing one pound will remove four pounds of pressure from your knees. In fact, strong muscles protect your joints. So, take diet rich in calcium, vitamin D to keep oneself fit. People should make a good balance between activity and rest each day. You must even know how to manage your stress and depression. You should eat more fruits and vegetables and eat less unhealthy food such as pizzas, burgers etc. Since, obesity is the major cause of osteoarthritis you should eat healthy and stay fit.
