Scarlet fever is a disease caused by Group A streptococcus bacteria. This fever is identified with its characteristic rash that it carries along. It used to considered a deadly disease but now with advanced antibiotic treatments, the mortality rate due to scarlet fever has come down to almost zero per cent. The usual symptoms of scarlet fever include throat swelling and pain along with fever. The patients who are unable to retain oral antibiotics are given treatment with an injection of penicillin G benzathine.

Also kidney disease is another complication caused by it. Also, apart from the medications prescribed by your doctor. You should take some care from your side as well. Make sure that the patient should go to school or work for a week. This ensures that other people don’t come in contact with the bacteria. As scarlet fever is highly contagious and it can spread. Also, see to it that the patient gets ample rest. Keep his diet healthy and include as many green vegetables in it as you can. Make sure that he drinks a lot of water and fruit juice to avoid dehydration. Finally, if you are taking care of a person suffering from scarlet fever, you should see to it that you keep yourself clean and if you spot any symptoms on yourself, you should consult your doctor immediately.
